Dating originally from 1946, it was designed as a primary trainer and more than 1200 were built. Starting in the 1960’s, aerobatic pilots such as Art Scholl and Skip Volk modified Chipmunks with larger engines and mods to surfaces, cowls and landing gear and came up with the Super Chipmunk. Our Chipmunk is modeled most closely on N540SC, an incredibly beautiful and clean IO540 powered Super Chipmunk belonging to Mike Morton.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe Legacy 2M Chipmunk has a scale side profile, but highly modified wing and tail surfaces for maximum aerobatic ability. It’s fully 3D capable, although it does the maneuvers a tick slower than our slicks and extras. It’s also very gentle, with large flaps for super-slow flight and extreme STOL performance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe Chipmunk is a highly pre-fabricated aircraft, with pre-hinged and gap-sealed surfaces, quick build tail system, pre-vented cowl for great cooling, and loads of other time-saving features. It’s built of premium laser-cut balsa and ply integrated with carbon-fiber structural members. This structure allows it to be a huge 80” in span but fly on a single 6S lipo 750-850 grams (typically about 5000-60000mah) at only 9.5 lbs w\/o Lipo (giving about 11-11.5 with Lipo). It feels like a feather in the air.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe Chippy uses 7 ultra-performance mini servos, either THETA989 or SAVOX1261 or equivalent. Each of these 7 servos needs a 1.25” lightweight EF servo arm. The Chipmunk is specifically designed for the mighty T-Hobby AM670 motor and matched AM116 ESC swinging an 18x8 T-Hobby Carbon prop. This system gives unlimited vertical, good punchout from hover, moderate speed, and long flight times.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eEquip the Chipmunk with the 145mm Pilot X2 figure for maximum realism. A full-color decal set is included, as is a robust flexible-foam transport cradle. Silver foil wing bags with special cut outs for the specific Chipmunk landing gear are also included, and a matched and vented Cyclone spinner. The red\/white\/blue scheme is based on N540SC’s full-scale paint job, while the yellow scheme is based on the full-scale CAF trainer livery and includes pre-applied and clear-coated shark’s mouth. Either way, the covering is\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003egenuine Ultracote\u003c\/span\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eGet your Chipmunk in either ARF form, ready for your gear, or RXR configuration with electronics installed and needing only your receiver and Lipo to fly. With the RXR, you can be in the air in about an hour.
